The children of Naples, about 12 to 15 years of age, retrieved weapons that the Nazis had confiscated from the Italians and thrown into the sea. Then these school boys attacked the Nazi forces. In four days the combined German army, navy, air-force, and armored divisions were routed, and they left under a white flag. When the Allies arrived in Naples the only Nazis they found were the dead, and hulks of German tanks still smoldering.—Tony
