In a tiny Azerbaijani fishing village young Sarah's father disappears at sea. Misfortunes abound until the superstitious inhabitants demand a funeral. Rebellious Sarah undertakes one last, and deadly, attempt to find her father.
Fourteen-year-old Sarah lives in a small village on the Caspian Sea. When her fisherman father disappears, she refuses to believe he is dead as no body has been found. As misfortunes mount upon the village, Sarah's family and the other villagers insist on a funeral - even without a body - believing that their troubles are due to a dead man remaining unburied. Sarah rebels, and nature itself seems to rebel alongside her. With a terrible storm gathering, she ventures into the sea in a final attempt to find her father.
