Summaries

A young newspaperwoman travels to a South Seas island to search for buried treasure.

Two men had been partners. Both had prospered. One had double crossed the other. The injured partner was the father of Helen. Having earlier in life deserted his wife and daughter, the latter part being played by Helen Holmes, he decided to bury his wealth on Devils Island and then go in search of his former partner in an effort to injure him. He makes a map of the location of the island and the hidden fortune. He finds the partner and in the mix up is killed himself. Helen, then a newspaper reporter, sees the tragedy. Also through a locket on the dead man she learns he is her father. She secures the map, only on that instant to have the Faceless Terror appear, grab it from her hands and disappear. When she recovers, she finds only half of the map in her possession, and that part containing only the longitude - the other half has only the latitude. The Faceless Terror finds himself in the same predicament. Then begins a battle royal of wits and brawn by each side to secure possession of the other half of the map in order to locate the hidden fortune.—Exhibitor's Herald, 1919
