Summaries

During five intense weeks two brothers traveled immense distances through Russia, Mongolia and China. Along the way they encountered some very different lives and interesting people. They won't say that the things they saw and experienced changed them, but the journey enforced their gratitude for the life and freedom they were given. The Eastbound Series consists of 10 episodes. The two brothers traveled the Trans-Siberian Railway, or the Trans-Mongolian as their itinerary was based upon, coast to coast from Saint Petersburg to Shanghai. Travel far by train was something new to them and the focus point of this series was not to show the incredible landscapes nor highlight the luxurious privilege it is to travel for pleasure. "I've tried to portray our experience in a raw and correct way and visualize the emotions we felt there and then." says David Östgård, the producer. Throughout the series they visit the following places: Saint Petersburg, Moscow, Perm, Novosibirsk, Irkutsk, Lake Baikal, Ulan-Bator, the Gobi Desert, Beijing, the Great wall of China and Shanghai.
