An effigy merchant's impotent brother has died and left a pregnant wife. Suspecting a scam and foul play, he schemes to inspect his brother's corpse before the burial, not knowing that his brother is actually alive and in on the scam.
Wah Li, known as Fat Boy to his friends, lives with his Great-Uncle Yee. Together with his oddball friends Lai Li and Momo, Wah Li helps Uncle Yee run the local funeral services. When the body of one of Wah Li's friends, Ma Lun Chio, is brought back to the village by a new wife and her "brother," Wai Li is suspicious.
