The Cries of Lorena was inspired by the popular Mexican legend 'The Crier' where the natural and the unknown collide to create a tale of love obsession and ultimately death. Lorena Crier is a widow whose only possession left in the world is her nine-year-old son Danny. Still struggling to put her life together Lorena cannot help but still be haunted by the brutal murder committed against her husband by two teenagers who fled the scene of the crime and have not yet been found. This incident has left her in doubt of her belief in God and has put her in touch with a world where she frequently sees apparitions of the husband's spirit calling her. One quiet night a bizarre event occurs that changes Lorena's life forever. Something of explainable nature enters her house and takes Danny away. This incident makes Lorena not only become mental unstable, but makes the sole purpose of the existence to find what took her son away and why. Her search with finding the truth will lead her to discover dark secrets that will expose a conspiracy by those who she once trusted and considered close friends. Michael Crier was an influential political figure who was killed in an accident. He was a happy family man, very much in love with his wife Lorena and her son Danny.
Lorena, now a year old widow, is getting her life back together, coping with Danny's struggles with school and considering letting another man in her life. Monica her coworker, insists on a double date because she wants to meet George.
During the social dinner, Monica did not anticipate George would be more interested in Lorena than her, and that ignites her jealousy.
At the end of another date, Lorena decided to discontinue her romance with George and asked him to leave as she did not want to hurt her friend's feelings. George ignores her request and steels a kiss. Being pleasantly distracted Lorena doesn't notice Danny following the ghost of his dad out of the house.
Lorena's futile attempts to find her son start to drive her insane. Her crazy behavior spooks her community as she claims she's seen visions of her dead husband and is 'communicating' with him.
Afraid of being exposed, the Mayor, who is seeking re-election and his conspirator, the town's priest Father Mathias, decide to eliminate Lorena. Father Mathias instructs the wanted thugs to take of Lorena the same way they took care of her husband.
Discovering that her husband's death was not an accident, and a failed attempt on her life, send Lorena over the edge of sanity and transforms her into a 'Creature' of vengeance.
She takes the lives of all those who destroyed her happiness, including George, as she blames him for her son's disappearance. Danny couldn't accept George taking his father's place. She feels if she hadn't allowed love back in her life, Danny would not be missing.
Lorena still doesn't find rest and continues to search for her son in the night.
