Harold was a bully caterpillar. He was the biggest caterpillar around and could do whatever he wanted. Then, one day, a beautiful butterfly stopped to see him. Unbeknownst to Harold, the butterfly was his mother. The butterfly shows him how to love and he makes a cocoon and stays inside to think about the new person he wants to be. In the meantime, he saves the life of Stealth, a very large blackbird who wanted to eat him. Lord Mongus won't let the caterpillars in the dark forest change, so their purple stripes have changed to yellow, as they are afraid to stand up to him. Once Harold emerges from his cocoon, Nada comes to him because she is in trouble with Lord Mongus. Harold goes to see Lord Mongus and gets trounced. He flies back to Nada with ripped wings. She fixes his wings with her "cocoon making stuff". Harold gets the other caterpillars together to overthrow Lord Mongus, while Nada changes. Nada changes to Llena (complete) and they live happily ever after.—Dr. Jay Carter
This is a powerful story about transformation and the secret of how it happens. It is a story that defines the difference between ego and esteem, arrogance and confidence, entitlement and purpose, death and immortality of spirit. It emulates our world today with the pervasive bullying and the overthrow of dictators. Harold was a bully. He was smug with his ego, arrogance, and entitlement. He was the biggest, meanest caterpillar around and he could do whatever he wanted. He didn't want to change. Then, a beautiful Butterfly came along to mentor his journey of healing and enlightenment. Classic stories, like this, change the world. A transformation is a different than a change. In a transformation, the butterfly can never be a caterpillar again. It is an enlightening story for an inner child of any age. It is stories that change the world. It is stories that we hear as children that develop our ethics and map the routes of our lives. This story, carefully constructed over the last 14 years, is one such story destined to be a classic. This story could only be constructed using the butterfly and there are no other stories quite like it.—Dr. Jay Carter and Joanna Cassidy
