Synopsis

Twelve year old Dan (Harley Cross) is verbally insulting and running rampant over his exasperated single mother of three young boys. He hates the boarding school his mother, Candice (Karen Young) sends the three of them to during the week. After a serious incident threatening another boy at the school and an episode of trance like head banging he is referred to a psychiatric holding unit for a ten day assessment period. Uncooperative with the doctors and therapists it is deemed he should be held there indefinitely. Dan deteriorates quickly, apparently having an undiagnosed mental illness. Largely by his own actions, he loses several of the friends he makes at the hospital which affects his negative decline even further. After several more serious incidents and acts of violence, Candice is told that Dan must leave the facility or be committed to a lockdown mental hospital. Due to his previous violent behaviour, his mother is unable to find another place who will agree to take him. She eventually gets frustrated with the hospital and brings him home. With minimal supervision he deteriorates further to the film's disturbing end.
