Andrew Paxton hires Chet Fanning among the extra men he needs to complete the construction of a road by the agreed date. Dude McCormick, who regains possession of the land if Paxton fails, discovers coal on the property and bribes some workers to delay the project. Chet rescues Iris Paxton from a falling boulder, prevents an explosion, and otherwise thwarts the villains. The road is completed on time, and Chet wins Iris's love.—AFI
