Consenting to aid secret serviceman Bill Parsons in recapturing the Benson gang, Henry Avery, wealthy young criminologist, sends Blinky, his assistant, to the waterfront to watch for the thieves while he attends a reception at the home of Mrs. Cornelius Westervelt. There Avery meets Alice Carter, whom he recognizes as a member of the Benson gang. Avery gains possession of the gang's loot (for which they attempt to eliminate him), is captured, and then is freed by Blinky in time to prevent the gang's robbery of Mrs. Westervelt. Benson goes over a cliff in an exciting chase; and Avery is pleased to learn that Alice is really Parson's daughter working to capture the gang.—AFI
