However, things go downhill when the mob boss sets his sights on robbing an armoured car filled with the circus' hard-earned profits. Now, it's up to Lucky to right a wrong. But can the amazing Dobermanns foil the gangster's plans?—Nick Riganas

Loner Lucky Vincent is a gambler hard on his luck, he deep in debt to mob boss Solly Kramer. In reality, Lucky is a federal agent with the Justice Department, he now undercover for over a year in order to pin some crime on Solly, who of late has kept personally "clean" in a scheme where he lends money to people who work for financially lucrative companies, they, when they cannot repay, having to resort to embezzling the money from their company. Lucky is willing to endure the scrapes and bruises by Solly's enforcer thugs to maintain his cover. Lucky believes he has the perfect situation to set up Solly when he encounters the travelling Circus Septimus and meets ex-con turned evangelical security consultant Daniel Hughes, the security provided by his five highly trained Dobermans who he not only considers "employees" but his best friends. Lucky's plan is to convince an unsuspecting Daniel to join the circus in an act devised by Lucky which is really his security service in the scheme to "suggest" to Solly that he can be repaid in spades by robbing the circus of its receipts. But being an ex-con, Daniel may smell that something isn't quite right in Lucky's outwardly simple suggestion to have a more stable life for himself and the Dobermans by joining the circus. If Daniel figures out what's going on, he will have to weigh the risks to the Dobermans versus his own want to help Lucky put Solly, who he knew inside, back behind bars. And Lucky has to weigh the scheme against the lies he would need to tell Justine Pirot, the trick rider with the circus, she the first person with who he has made a serious romantic connection in a long time.—Huggo
