As an experiment, filmmaker Steven Harris gave a Super 8mm camera and a two and a half minute roll of film to each of sixteen people: his friends, his family, and himself. Their assignment was open-ended: to film themselves wherever they felt most comfortable. Harris then had each person sit alone in a room, watch his or her movie on loop for an hour, and talk about whatever came to mind in front of a microphone. Afterwards, he then sat with each person to watch and talk about the other fifteen movies together. What resulted was That Time We Talked, a poignant and challenging film about the interrelationships of a Virginia community.—Anonymous
