Kanika Kapoor (Bhumi Pednekar) is on a quest for love and sexual pleasure. Kanika, a 32 years old single woman, lives with her mother, Dr. Bina Kapoor (Natasha Rastogi), and her grandmother, Kishori Kapoor (Dolly Ahluwalia). Bina is a single mother and a gynecologist. Bina has always been very transparent with Kanika about sex education. Bina was unashamed about her single life, even when the landlords objected to her bringing her boyfriends home, late at night.At school, Kanika was made to apologize by Kishori for talking about sex during a school play. Bina maintained that Kanika should not have to say sorry to tell the truth.
Kanika himself grew up to become a sexually active teenager.Kanika has affairs with a college friend Bunny, a Professor Shekhar Sinha and later with Rahul (Sushant Divgikar). Rahul never even wanted to have sex with Kanika.Despite trying hard, she has never had an orgasm. After every breakup and at her birthdays, when she is very depressed for being alone, she is warmed up by her best friends Pallavi Khanna (Dolly Singh) and Tina Das (Shibani Bedi).
At her 32nd birthday Kanika was looking to hook up with Arjun (Karan Kundrra), but he brings his own date Rushi Kalra (Shehnaaz Gill) to the party. When Pallavi and Tina confront Arjun, he retorts that Kanika is over 30 years old, and he respects her like an aunt.Rushi and Kanika get super drunk at the party and Kanika confesses to her that she has never had an orgasm. Rushi tells Kanika to have sex with a person who loves her and not with the person whom she loves.
Kanika has an epiphany and decides to get married to Jeevan Anand (Pradhuman Singh), a businessman, who has been courting her for long time however they have never been physical. Kanika goes over to Jeevan's house in her sexy red dress, with an intention to have sex with him. But while Jeevan is very passionate, his heat and passion does not include sex, which frustrates Kanika.Her mother and friends warn her about the shy and simple Jeevan Anand. But given her mother did not get married to her father and raised her as single mother, Kanika is terrified of the idea of being alone and facing the society.Neha (Kusha Kapila) is one of the mean girls who taunts Kanika about being single. Kanika retorts that she is engaged and invites Neha to the engagement.
Bina lashes out at Kanika and says that her father never loved her and he was offering to marry her out of pity as she was pregnant with Kanika. Bina says that marriage without love is meaningless and it is better to be single.Kanika gets busy with the preparation for the engagement party. On the day, Kanika gets high taking painkillers and a shot of Vodka and is determined to have fun. Arjun, Rohan and Shekhar were all invited to the party.
Waking up next morning after her engagement ceremony, she has a vague recollection of having an orgasm the previous night. But she could not recall who it was with. All three friends went on an adventure to find out the person.
They visit Jeevan Anand. Far for being able to have sex, Kanika discovers that Jeevan suffers from premature ejaculation.Professor (Anil Kapoor) is next. But when Kanika meets Shekhar she finds that he had hooked up with Rushi the previous night after she broke up with Arjun.They are later called by Rahul who appears as a drag queen in a Gurgaon bar and admits Kanika encouraged him to be himself.Rahul rules out Arjun as he was with Arjun the previous night.While none of her old flings were with her the night before, Neha tells her that she saw, Karan (Gautmik), Pallavi's husband coming out of Kanika's room in hotel.
Kanika is devastated and drives back with flashes of the night with Karan. Kanika has a minor accident after which she breaks her engagement with Jeevan when he comes to rescue her from the police.
She gets a call from Rabeya Das (Saloni Daini), Tina's daughter, whom she earlier advised to lose virginity when she is ready, since people make too much of a big deal out of having sex for the first time.Rabeya had sex with her boyfriend Rohan on Kanika's engagement evening. Rohan made a video of their sex and released on internet. Rabeya says that Rohan planned the timing as she had to go on stage the next day to receive a certificate for topping the board.
As she arrives home, she is attacked by both of his friends. Pallavi attacks her for sleeping with Karan. And Tina attacks her for giving bad advice to Rabeya.She is rescued and consorted by her mother and grandmother. After a long talk with her mother, Kanika recalls the night. Karan had tucked a drunken Kanika in bed and left, after which she masturbates and gets orgasm.
