It is the story of foreign-educated Satya (Upendra), son of an village chieftain Chowdaiah (Ambarish) who returns home after a long stay abroad. Accompanying Satya is his girlfriend (Saakshi Shivanand), with whom he intends to settle in a city and start a business. However, his father hopes he will don the patriarchal mantle, a role Satya finds distasteful after several years abroad. Then, an accidental confrontation and its consequences bestow a new set of responsibilities on Satya.
