In this soft reboot of Tequila and Bonetti (1992), a tough Italian American cop arrives through an international police exchange program in Rome, Italy, where he is teamed up with his new partner, a sentient local police dog with a cool attitude.

Tequila is one of the most experienced employees of the police department of Rome, Italy's capital. He knows the city, he loves the city, and he'd never be able to work anywhere else but in Rome. However, officer Tequila happens to be a police dog, and his biggest problem in life is that he does not get to make decisions for himself. When his human partner gets transferred to New York Police Department through an international police exchange program, a new partner is sent to Tequila from America in return: a tough Italian American detective, who known nothing about Rome, called Nick Bonetti.
