Summaries

An adaptation of the short-lived manga series "The Song of Tentomushi" (1973-1975) by Noboru Kawasaki. Seven siblings (five boys and two girls) of the Isshuu family are orphaned when their parents are killed in an accident. The kids have to learn to take care of each other in the aftermath of the tragedy, while also facing the demands of their school life. The eldest sister Tsukimi struggles with the role of being the de facto head of the family. The eldest brother Kaji is a typical jock, good at sports but performing poorly at most school subjects. The second brother Mizuo is a child prodigy with an interest in science. The third brother Mokusuke is a highly religious Buddhist and aspires to become a priest. The fourth brother Kintaro is a school bully and quite mischievous. Kintaro aspires to become a farmer. The fifth and youngest son Tsuchimaru is a bright and friendly boy who aspires to become a detective. The second daughter and youngest child Hiyoko loves animals and aspires to become a veterinarian. She has a pet ladybug, which she has named Tentomushi.—Dimos I
