Ming Ding, an illegal Chinese immigrant working as a bicycle deliveryman for a busy Chinese take-out shop in New York City, has made a grave mistake: Ming has borrowed money from a dangerous loan shark to pay for being smuggled into the U.S. As the pitiless henchmen demand their money back by midnight, proud Ming works his fingers to the bone on a long, rainy day to come up with the payment.
