Balagopalan, an educated man, strives to save his earnings for his sister's marriage. He also deals with responsibilities towards his family in a society that is ailing from widespread unemployment.

The story revolves around a good,down-to-earth T.P Balagopalan(Mohanlal) who has a part time with small salary.The story starts when he falls in love with Anitha(Shobhana) who is in need of some money to get her father's property back. T P Balagopalan however helps Anitha and her family to solve this problem and get their properties back to them.—Rammohan
