In search of the sexiest sport, the women of Japan drop their tops and enter the ring. No holds are barred as these sexy sumo wrestlers brawl their way to glory.
The opening credits roll over a women's sumo contest at the Original Women's Sumo Institute, featuring the champion Wakazakura aka Kimiyo Sakura ('Kyôko Nakamura' (qv)), and Komasa Akagi ('Kei Mizutani' (qv)). [End of match not shown; characters established in later scenes, only.]
Zenjiro Arakuma ('Arase' (qv)) is released from prison, and given a talk by the Chief Officer, after serving five years for being a yakuza. Tonpachi ('Keisuke (II)' (qv)), his friend and yakuza assistant, has sold their Cadillac for lack of money, and now meets him outside the prison with a new vehicle, «more nature friendly» - a bicycle.
Meanwhile, Kimiyo Sakura ('Kyôko Nakamura' (qv)) is being attended at home by a Doctor; the former champ is ill, always thinking of sumo, but she is still strong enough to punch the Doctor away when she deems his attention to her chest is a bit overdue. Ruriko Sakura ('Eba' (qv)), Kimiyo's niece, is with her at the moment, and she wishes her aunt would teach her to be a star female sumo wrestler, as Kimiyo was in her prime.
Arakuma ends his first evening of freedom at a bath-house with a whore - a girl with green hair who is sniffing paint thinner from a plastic bag all the time [later named Dokudenpu]. In the next room, his pal Tonpachi is with another girl, who seems to be a Thai immigrant with her hair braided African-style, named Dowan [later named Daimitsurin]. They are discovered by a mature geisha, Steam Locomotive, who wants her lover back - but Arakuma is not so inclined as the lady is not so attractive now.
Ruriko finds Arakuma at his humble lodgings, and ask him to train her as a sumo wrestler. To better convince him, she takes him to his aunt's Institute, and she speaks high of her aunt being the last woman sumo champion, and how that sport started with Emperor Yuraku [1st century, legendary] gathering women to play in sumo tournaments at his court. The meeting is interrupted by the arrival of three yakuza, sent by Mr. Domino, to get Kimiyo's overdue payment. When one of them starts harassing Ruriko, Arakuma intervenes, and beats up the three men.
Domino ('Jirô Okazaki' (qv)) is informed that Arakuma, the sumo wrestler, is now helping Kimiyo and her niece. The yakuza boss is so angry, that he slaps his sexy secretary, Bibari ('Aya Koizumi' (qv)), out of nothing.
Arakuma accompanies Ruriko to a shrine, and the girl explains further that her aunt is not actually her aunt, but her mother. She had found out when she went to college and saw her birth certificate. She had left her daughter behind - Kimiyo's sister and brother-in-law acting as adoptive parents to go on the tour of Japan with the women's sumo wrestling group, but she always sent money and presents to Ruriko. Arakuma likes the beautiful virgin, and devises a plan to help her out of financial difficulties and exploit the wrestling scene. He asks Tonpachi to go out and recruit a few women for the ring.
Tonpachi doesn't look out far, and returns with three girls: the two prostitutes they had met at the bath-house, and an abused housewife who can't return home and is crying all the time [later named Tomatsubaki]. The team is complete, and the teaching starts with the basic rules of the dojo. Arakuma is not pleased with the trio, but they were the only one's accepting to appear topless. Tonpachi is not pleased that Ruriko appears in a bikini, but there, Arakuma is ready to accept her as the exception.
The in-doors training and the street running are tough, but tying up an abbreviated mawashi - little more than a g-string - seems to be worse for Tomatsubaki. Two sumo training matches follow: one between Daimitsurin (tigress mawashi) and Dokudenpu (green mawashi); and another between Tomatsubaki (pink mawashi) and Roriko (bikini).
During the next road running training, they're accosted by a handful of Mr. Domino's men. Before they could move on the girls and the useless Tonpachi, a leather-clothed tough female in leather clothes, makes a sudden appearance, and gives the thugs a surprise beating. Meanwhile, Arakuma arrives, and Masako Akagi ('Kei Mizutani' (qv)) aka Komasa Joshu, introduces herself with the yakuza bow to Arakuma, saying she is «a dry wind from Mount Akaji [literally, red castle] in Honshu island.»
Later, at the Sumo Institute, she addresses Kimiyo as Yokozuna Wakazakura [her ring name, and the highest rank for a sumo wrestler champion] for she had saved her life of juvenile delinquency through that combat sport. Masako is inexperienced, but eager to learn from Mr. Arakuma.
Thus, Arakuma's team has grown, and skill tests follows: first, the four girls, and then Masako alone against a heavyweight male sumo wrestler, named Gantetsu; then, Masako versus Arakuma.
Meanwhile. Domino is kicking his men about, for not having accomplished his orders to beat up Arakuma's girls. A trio of tough looking young women interrupt them. Their leader, wearing black leather hat, long vest and boots, plus an eye-patch over her left eye and a scar below it on her otherwise beautiful face, presents herself as One-eyed Oryu ('Shôko Kudô' (qv)). She tells Domino they want to form a female sumo wrestling team, and go up against Arakuma's girls. Domino relents a bit, until he sees his men being beaten by the three girls in front of his eyes.
Next, Domino visits the Sumo Institute with his staff, and makes Arakuma a proposition: if Arakuma's team wins, he will write off all of Kimiyo's debt; If Domino's team wins, he'll enter in full possession of the Institute and "exclusive rights" over Ruriko - meaning that she'll be her sex slave until being sent to work as a prostitute in a bath-house for him. The proposition is not nice, but there is no other way out. Bibari tells Arakuma [speaking direct to camera, as in a TV ad] that the tournament will be broadcast on cable TV, with all the rights going to the Domino's Agency...
As Domino and his staff are leaving, Masako asks Oryu to have a private talk with her. Both girls meet, dressed in sexy black leather costumes. In a flashback, we see them nude on a bed making love, until Masako informs Oryu that she wants to stop their relationship; in a rage, Oryu opens a flick-blade and goes to the shower room where her lover is bathing, and attempts to kill her - but Masako grabs the armed hand, and they fight over the naked blade... until Oryu wounds herself, lightly enough to survive, but enough to leave her with a face scar and the loss of her eye. At present, Oryu wants revenge, and takes it in a long catfight, in which she humiliates Ruriko verbally, after exhausting her with lesbian sexual techniques.
One more training match - Masako Akagi (red mawashi) against Tomatsubaki (pink), and more running outdoors, precede the five girls' no-holds-barred wrestling tournament, broadcast live from the Sumo Institute in front of a crowd of rowdy spectators. On one side, Mr. Domino's team, with girls impressive by their size and confident attitude, their bodies covered in see-through black veils; facing them, Arakuma's girls, dressed in see-through red veils, but clearly not self-confident.
As expected, Ruriko Sakura (the Sports Annoucer says her ring name, Wakasakura] loses her match against the first yakuza girl, Shinsekai. And Daimitsurin (in her tigress mawashi) loses her match against the second yakuza girl, Jigokuhen (in magenta). And (to the surprise of the Sports Announcer) Dokudenpu (in green) defeats Chodendo (in yellow), after using some dirty and silly talk to distract her. For the fourth match, Tetsunotsume (in blue) recurs to even more violence, with crotch grabbing and breast scratching until blood flows, but surprisingly, Tomatsubaki (in pink), the beaten housewife resists it all, and ... wins.
Thus, the fifth match is the decider. Will Komasa Akagi (the femme in red) take revenge from her humiliation at the catfight? Will Oryu (the butch in black) take her decisive revenge for being abandoned by her lover? They fight desperately to throw each other to the ground [low angled camera shots]. And the fight is even, and long, until a decision is reached.
The result leads to a general brawl, during which Kimiyo gets out of retirement to beat a couple of men, and all the wrestlers fight again - with different pairings. Outside of the ring: Tomatsubaki (pink) vs. Shinsekai (blue), Daimitsurin (tigress) vs. Jigokuhen (magenta), Dokudenpu (green) vs. Tetsunotsume (blue), and Ruriko Sakura (bikini) vs. Chodendo (yellow).
Still in the ring, Masako Akagi and Oryu tangle in another long and vicious catfight, with punching, elbowing, breast and crotch clawing, blood flowing from bites and scratching, to a decisive KO end.
It all ends up well, except for Domino, who resents losing his bet andis humiliated by his second sexy secretary, Yuko; and for Akamura, who sees Tonpachi going away to marry Daimitsurin abroad, and Ruriko presenting him her college fiancé, Shimura.
Finally, Tonpachi is abandoned by the scheming Daimitsurin who flies alone with his money; and the geisha Hama Okajoki, is still determined to have sex with Akamura... [Japanese end credits roll over clips of the movie, with a longer cast than in the English credits.]
