A true tale of love, liberty and scandal amongst the Edwardian artists' colony in Cornwall in 1914.

The Newlyn School of artists flourished at the beginning of the 20th Century and the film focuses on the wild and bohemian Lamorna Group, which included Alfred Munnings and Laura and Harold Knight. The incendiary anti-Modernist Munnings, now regarded as one of Britain's most sought-after artists, is at the center of the complex love triangle, involving aspiring artist Florence Carter Wood and Gilbert Evans, the land agent in charge of the Lamorna Valley estate. True - and deeply moving - the story is played out against the timeless beauty of the Cornish coast, in the approaching shadow of The Great War.—Production

A sweeping romance set at a bohemian artist colony on the picturesque coasts of pre-war England, the film is based on the true story of painter Sir Alfred Munnings and his blue-blood best friend Gilbert. Born into a working-class family, Munnings rises to become one of the premiere British artists of his time, winning the affection of aristocratic beauty Florence Carter Wood. But when Gilbert falls for Florence as well, a love triangle emerges with tragic consequences.—Tribeca Film

1913, Cornwall. In the seaside village of Lamorna, a small group of bohemian friends are centered on artists AJ Munnings, and husband and wife Harold and Laura Knight, they each seemingly on the cusp of fame. Arriving from London is Florence Carter Wood, the sister of Joey Carter Wood, one within this social circle. In addition to escaping the iron grip of control of her father who sees her in a more traditional life as a dutiful wife, Florence is an aspiring artist wanting to study under AJ. While AJ largely uses Florence as one of his many models, she specifically the human figure in one of his paintings centered on horses, she catches the attention of another within the social circle, Gilbert Evans, a local land agent and veteran of the Boer War. While not officially courting, Florence added to this social circle forms a romantic triangle of sorts as both AJ and Gilbert have the intention of asking for her hand in marriage. Once Florence makes an official decision about these two men in her life based somewhat on circumstance, she realizes that she made the wrong decision almost immediately after it's too late, leading to anguish for all three involved and tragedy.—Huggo
