Ruiterbosch - a community that experiences joys, sorrows, disputes, romances, revenges and retaliations, misunderstandings, and jealousies all in the course of their busy daily lives.

kykNET and kykNET and Kie's new soap opera is about the people of Suidooster, a small shopping and business centre in the fictional Cape Town suburb of Ruiterbosch. The three families that live and work there--a matriarch, her two daughters, her grandchildren, and her friends--inevitably share their joys, sorrows, disputes, romances, revenges and retaliations, misunderstandings, and jealousies, but it is also the story of a multicultural South African community. Mrs J's long-lost daughter Lee-Ann finally comes home after many years away. Mrs J's older daughter Bridgette is unhappy about this for various reasons and tries everything in her power to get rid of her sister. Meanwhile, Bridgette's husband, property magnate Ian October, is working on a devious plan that threatens the Suidooster community, which includes Uncle Fasie's Oos Wes Restaurant, the Aalwyn Apteek, and Suidooster Eiendomme Bpk. On the other side of the spectrum, the Samsodiens own and manage the chemist's in the Suidooster centre. Their initially-perfect world falls apart when the presence of Oos Wes' new waitress Bianca Fourie opens an old wound. Also, the Du Plooy family cannot escape Ian October's hold over them. When Chris Du Plooey's son Tim starts working for Ian, their lives take a new turn. Throw in some family from Gauteng--Stefan and Michelle Gerber--who have moved in with the Du Plooys indefinitely, then wait for the bomb to explode.
