The Valerians lose their home planet and have an exodus vessel (Valerian 2) with most of the citizens in suspended animation. They reach the planet Jupiter and proceed an attempt to conquer Earth. Kelly Thompson and Duncan fight off an attack with their freighter. A scientist who worked with Kelly's father has built a giant robot, Dynamo, that Kelly can control through attachments to his body. In addition to various weapons built into Dyanamo, he can transfer his martial arts ability to Dynamo. He rescues Erica, brother of the Valerian King Roderick and learns that there is a civil war among the Valerians. Erica and Roderick's father, King Lyon, wanted to settle the one billion survivors of Valerian peacefully on Earth, but a rival has brainwashed most of the people into a violent attack on Earth's major cities. Kelly falls in love with Erica and decides that ending the Valerian civil war is the best way to save both Earth and Erica's people.—Scott Andrew Hutchins <[email protected]>
