Imagine a parallel earth where vampires have cut a swath through humanity. The disease is so bad, the ravenous bloodsuckers begin feeding on each other. Three surviving humans create a jump gate to our earth. But, Alyssa, Queen of the Vampires, and her evil bodyguards use the gate to come to our earth as well. They arrive to feed and breed. Vampires have taken over the earth, so Father John O'Grady [George Stover], Shannon Wallace [Ashira Zimra], and Dr Brian Smithers [Steven King]"slide" to a parallel earth, only to find that pureblood vampires--Dragas [John Michaelson],Raven [Syn DeVil], and their queen Alyssa [Leanna Chamish] -- have gotten there first and are feeding onthe local population in an attempt to take over this earth, too. Afterstumbling on three particularly gruesome murders, the sliders becomeallied with Detective Jake Bishop [Jamie Bell], who is investigating the murders. Theytell Jake about the vampires, but Jake isn't too convinced. As more peoplestart disappearing, however, Jake becomes a believer, especially after hisassistant gets killed by one.
Meanwhile, the purebloods kidnap Mindy Fleming [Chelsea Leigh Ernst], the daughter of city housingcommissioner Elizabeth Fleming [Erin J. Corsair] and force Elizabeth to give them access toan abandoned warehouse. When the vampires refuse to release Mindy,Elizabeth calls on Jake for help. She leads him and the other hunters tothe abandoned warehouse where they kill a few vamps, but it turns out thatthe purebloods have taken Mindy and moved elsewhere...maybe to the oldabandoned nursery on Route 17.But the nursery also turns out to be a deadend, except for theability to knock off a few more vampires and obtain a map that one of themcarelessly left behind. When they try to stop Dragas, however, theyrealize that his pureblood status prevents bullets from stunning him andwooden stakes from penetrating his skin. Just by chance, some holy wateris spilled on a stake and, when it is used to jab Dragas in the thigh, thestake penetrates and he goes limping off. But not for long. As the huntersprepare to drive away from the nursery, Dragas jumps in the back seat ofthe convertible, attacks Shannon, and beheads her.
Switch to the purebloods. "It's time," Alyssa tells Dragas and Raven,and she leads the two to a bed for the gratuitous sex scene, during whichAlyssa also fingers herself off. It's only by reading the video jacketthat you learn the plan...to sire more pureblood vampires.
Meanwhile, the hunters regroup at the Fleming house and, afterpouring over the map, decide to try the abandoned nut roasting factory.While the others sleep, Jake prepares some new stakes, this time made outof frozen holy water with a long metal spike inside for support. The nextday, the four remaining hunters go off to "kick some vampire butt." Thenut roasting factory turns out to be the lair. After staking another sixor seven vampires, the hunters finally get to test out a holy water icicleon Raven. It works, and it's a good thing because next to attack areDragas and Alyssa. Alyssa is impaled with another holy water icicle, butDragas impales Brian with a pipe and then escapes. Jake chases afterDragas and gets him with a third holy water icicle.
Mindy is finally reunited with her mother. As they hug, Mindy says,"Mommy, I have a secret to tell you," and opens her mouth, revealingfangs. "It's OK, baby," says Elizabeth, showing her fangs. "I alreadyknow." In the final scene, the two remaining hunters--Father O'Grady andDetective Jake--pull wooden stakes out of their back pockets and advanceon Mindy and Elizabeth.
