A lonely wife becomes obsessed with furs and keeps bad company in an effort to obtain more.

Fred Garlan, a prosperous manufacturer, neglects his wife, Alice, in favor of business; she, in turn, neglects him in favor of fine clothes and fast company. Becoming good friends with Esther Hamilton, Alice gets to know Harrison Morrill, a scoundrel who has bought Esther's body with a sable coat. Morrill becomes infatuated with Alice and arranges for her to win enough money at poker to buy a fur coat of her own. Fred believes that she has been unfaithful to him and leaves her. Alice decides to accompany Morrill to Paris, but when she reads in the paper that Jim Hamilton has killed both Esther and himself, she has a change of heart. Returning home, she finds Fred waiting for her with forgiveness and open arms.—AFI
