Martino is a professional photographer who is working on a nocturnal animals' documentary. Strange events begin to take place after the discovery of an old tombstone, that will drag him into his tormented past.

Martino is a professional photographer who is working with a colleague on a nocturnal animals' documentary about the tawny owl, a bird of prey very widespread in the forests of Piedmont. Martino leaves with his equipment and a tent for a research in the woods around the area of Turin but, after his arrival, he discovers a tombstone. From this moment on, disturbing and hard to understand events begins to take place. Seeking shelter in his tent, on the verge of insanity, he will wait for a dawn that will never show up. Hunger, exhaustion and even his own escape attempt, after three days of darkness, will drag him into his past, that is going to interlace with the drama of Nadia, a drug addict in her 50s who lives a miserable life in the outskirts of Turin.
