"Sonic X-Treme: The Mystery of the Real World" follows the story of 12-year-old Josh Pinski, who faces a challenging dilemma: he must complete his school paper on Sonic, the test pilot, before the deadline. Desperate to finish, Josh decides to activate his father's greatest invention, the XRI, an artificial intelligence computer, to write the paper for him. But things take an unexpected turn when Sonic, the video game hero, comes to life along with his archenemy, Eggman, bringing chaos to the real world.
As Sonic struggles to adapt to his new reality, wreaking havoc in Josh's apartment, the boy joins him on a mission to help him find the Chaos Emeralds and regain his lost energy. However, they soon discover that Eggman is also after the emeralds, planning to use their power to conquer the real world and bend it to his malevolent will.
With the help of Hal, Josh's father, who inadvertently becomes involved in Eggman's evil plans, Josh and Sonic embark on an exciting adventure to stop him. But when Sonic is captured by Eggman's machinations, Josh is forced to confront the villain in the video game world, where the rules are different and the dangers are even more intense.
In an exhilarating final showdown, Josh and Sonic manage to defeat Eggman and thwart his nefarious plans. However, the price of victory is high: Josh becomes trapped in the video game world, separated from his friend Sonic and his real-world home. With the XRI deemed too dangerous to be used again, Josh agrees to leave Sonic in his digital world to continue fighting Eggman and protecting the real world from the comfort of his video game screen.
