A wealthy Indian jewel merchant and an American woman fall in love, only for her family to stand in their way of getting married.

Karim, a jewel collector, is one of the richest men in Bombay--which belies his humble beginning and poverty as little as a decade ago. His wealth was derived from a diamond he received from his jewel-merchant father, who was killed by marauding bandits for the jewels in his possession. Twice, 10 years ago, Karim was saved from people who would kill, steal, or lie to get the diamond. His two saviors were an Indian holy man and an American tourist. When Karim and American tourist Janice Darsey meet, it is mutual love at first sight. Their interracial romance has many obstacles to happiness, including the disapproval by Janice's aunt, with whom she is traveling through India. As Karim and Janice begin a courtship against all odds, two people from Karim's past may ultimately factor into whether it will be happily ever after for Karim and Janice together.—Huggo

Karim, the only son of a wealthy diamond merchant in India survives a vicious attack by bandits that leaves his father dead and his wealth looted; he has a sole diamond in his possession. When he attempts to sell it to a Bombay jeweler, he is accused of stealing it and arrested by the police. He is released when a male Caucasian comes to his rescue and testifies in his favor. Years later, Karim has sold the diamond and is now a very wealthy eligible bachelor. He meets American Janice Darsey and they fall in love and want to marry. Janice's aunt does not want her to marry a non-Caucasian male, and telegrams her nephew to come to attempt to cancel this relationship. Her nephew comes over and meets Karim. That's when Karim finds out that the nephew and the aunt are opposed to his relationship with Janice, and that the nephew is the very same American who came to his aid in the courthouse. Now Karim must decide to appease his benefactor and forsake his love for Janice or otherwise.—rAjOo ([email protected])
