Summaries

An attempt to perform "Tartessos", Miguel Romero Esteo's most celebrated play, will lead Martin and Ariana to discover the magic of tradition and ancient rites in their ordinary lives. But such a difficult text and the challenge of directing actors (specially experienced Carlos, to play the evil brother in the story) will challenge the whole experience, which is recorded by Ariana. Martin starts to realize why "Tartessos" has not been played on stage yet. In a combination of genres, "Solsticio" travels to the origins of Europe as imagined by Romero Esteo in the 80s. A blend of ancient, folk, traditional and modern resources, from heroes in combat to delicate music, with a strong Mediterranean flavor, seem to bring life to this young couple and the author himself.—Hergueta, Jose Antonio

Mixing documentary and fiction, this film is a journey to the magic of theatre, ancient history and folklore. And a tribute to Spanish playwright Miguel Romero Esteo, who imagined and wrote 7 tragedies about the kings of the old kingdom of Tartessos, origin of Europe in South Spain.
