Soviet officer Alexander Pechersky organizes a revolt and mass escape of prisoners from Sobibór extermination camp in October 1943.

"Sobibor" is based on the history of the Sobibór extermination camp uprising during WWII and Soviet officer Alexander Pechersky. When he was a POW in Sobibor, he managed to do the impossible - to organize a revolt and mass escape of the prisoners. Many of the escapees were later caught and died - the rest led by Pechersky managed to join the partisans. Sobibor is a German extermination camp, part of their Final Solution. Every day the prisoners have to endure untold cruelty at the hands of the guards and live with the spectre of a sudden and violent death. Then in October 1943 the prisoners plan a mass escape.—grantss
