In a small village located in the Russian taiga lives the famous hunter Pavel Shirokov. Traffic cops stopped an SUV on the highway suspecting to find animals killed by poachers. When the police officers order the driver to open the SUV's trunk, the passengers open fire and all the participants are killed in the shootout. When Colonel Khazov arrives at the scene he finds two dead tigers in the trunk of the vehicle and recognized one of the dead poachers as a local hunter/guide. Khazov is sure that the men who wanted the tigers will look for a new guide to obtain the animals. He convinces Shirokov to prevent additional poachers from tracking and killing the rare big cats.
