When a police detective thinks he is dying and learns that his life insurance pays out more if he dies in the line of duty, he tries to make that happen.

Burt Simpson (Dabney Coleman) is nearing retirement and he finds that he has a disease that will kill him within days. He then finds that his life insurance only pays off if he is killed in the line of duty. Burt SImpson (Dabney Coleman, without knowing that his test result was switched with bus driver's, he risks himself on purpose to get killed in action. Later, his partner Ernie DIlls (Matt Frewer), who told him that he is not going to die when he was fighting with the most wanted hanging on the rope suspended from a window of a skyscraper and he struggles to survive but fell to the ground.
