Summaries

This semi-historical drama-romance by Director Emilio Gomez Muriel, is set in 19th century Mexico while under the rule of Emperor Maximilian, and features realistic military uniforms and clothing of that time-period. It tells the tale of Captain Fernando, (Emilio Tuero) and his troops who are all under the command of a cruel and dictatorial General, (Carlos Lopez Moctecuma), who cares only about himself rather then the men under his command or the locals under his care and control. As the Captain soon learns, the General's wife (Gloria Lozano) turns out to be Fernando's lost love, who dumped him several years earlier, by way of a "Dear John" letter which he kept ever since. The pair still have strong, unresolved feelings for each other, and so this unhappily married woman tries to persuade her former boyfriend to depose her husband and all he stands for. This leaves Fernando torn between love and duty.
