Wilbert and his retirement home pals are mistakenly booked on a cruise for seniors - COLLEGE seniors.
Wilbert, a grumpy old man, books a senior cruise to take his wife's ashes to a remote spot in Alaska, all hell breaks loose when he and his retirement friends discover it is a cruise for COLLEGE seniors. The ashes go missing and Wilbert is desperate to find them, quickly accusing the college kids. Wilbert must learn to overcome his self-imposed exile to save the ashes, his new friends and find his youth again. And so the adventure begins, taking Wilbert on a madcap chase with a load of mishaps on the way! Senior Escape is a family action adventure comedy about an old man, who wants to fulfill a promise he made to take his wifes ashes to Alaska. With the help of his 10-year-old granddaughter, Wilbert books himself and his retirement home pals on a cruise for seniors. What he doesnt know is the cruise is for COLLEGE seniors.
Onboard, Wilbert and friends find themselves amongst tons of college kids on spring break. The elderly do their best to bird watch and play Yahtzee, but its pretty hard when your walker is being used as a goal and your false teeth as the puck. Wilbert is determined to protect his granddaughter from these hooligans at all cost, but Gracie is curious and finds the older kids funny and ALIVE. When the college boys steal the urn, mistaking it for the ultimate beer stein, Wilbert loses any patience he might have had, and the old folks declare war on the college seniors. They must get the urn back before its too late and something tragic happens to the ashes.
The College Seniors take the urn/beer stein with them on an action packed shore excursion, and, desperate, Wilbert and his prune eating friends give chase only to discover Gracie in the hands of the enemy. A battle of sorts ensues and the urn/beer stein ends up in the drink, floating out of reach, downstream towards the sea. Wilbert and his elderly friends are despondent as they return to the departing cruise ship empty handed.
Back on board Gracie enlightens Justin that in the urn/beer stein sat the charred remains of Grandma, and Justin, sweet kid he actually is, enlists Hildy and his buddies to rectify the wrong. Easier said than done, because deep in the woods, where the urn has washed up, the Blackwood Thieves, each one of them part of the I fell out of the stupid tree and hit every branch on the way down club, discover the urn and believe it to reveal the location of a missing Alaskan Treasure for which they have been searching all their lives.
The thieves travel with the urn to Ketchikan thats in Alaska someplace - to find the buried riches that, in fact, is detailed on the urn and is why Wilberts wife sent him on this journey in the first place. They meet up with master mind Buck Anderson and when I say master mind, I mean he graduated eighth grade with extra tutoring.
Gracie, determined to show her grumpy grandpa happiness still exists, set her sights on helping Cupids arrow join Justin to the prettiest girl on ship, HILDY. Meanwhile, Justin and his college pals seeking to find redemption, head into Ketchikan, only to discover the urn at a derelict bar along with the thieves. Justin steals the urn, and quickly returns to the cruise ship with the thieves on his shirt tail.
The thieves create havoc among the passengers and Wilbert must overcome his self-imposed exile and prepare for battle with Buck to honor his pledge to his love. His elderly friends find their long lost youth and the joy of freedom on the cruise, and learn to never give up and always bring extra Depends wherever they go.Wilbert does find happiness after spreading his wifes ashes amongst the glaciers of Alaska and also finds the treasure which he shares with his retirement home pals, allowing them to travel the world for years to come.
