Maryna is a successful HR manager at a big company; she's also still single at 35 and has long been disappointed with men but dreams of having a child and wonders if it's too late. Her friend Tonya suggests that she adopt a child, and she goes to an orphanage and takes a liking to a boy named Denis. She arranges all the necessary documents but is turned down: former classmate Sveta, with whom she had conflicts in their schooldays, now works at the social service; besides, the social service doesn't like that she's single. Maryna suddenly remembers she recently had an interview with Serhiy, a handsome, smart, kind man who has just lost his job because of his casual attitude. Serhiy likes animals and recently took in a dog called Ricky that ended up on the street after its owner died. Naturally, Maryna didn't hire Serhiy to work for their company, but now she offers him money to arrange a sham marriage so she can adopt Denis. But it turns out that the social service will be observing their new family throughout the following year, and Sveta will seize any excuse to snatch Denis away from Maryna.
