Prominent book publisher Vivian Levinson Goldstein (Carol Burnett) and her husband, Ezra (George Segal), have their lives turned upside down when Vivian's runaway grandson, David, unexpectedly arrives at their home. Vivian and Ezra's relationship begins to deteriorate as they argue over Vivian's drug-addicted daughter and her abandonment of David, but it is ultimately David who brings the entire family back together, and love back into the home.—wiseguy-18
