When high school loner Lester is betrayed then viciously murdered, the bodies start stacking up as the scarecrow seeks vengeance from beyond the grave.

A high school outcast who lives in a trailer with his mother finally meets a friend. He wants to ask her if they can go the next step, but then sees her kissing another boy at a party. He runs home only to find his mother having sex with a drunk. He starts yelling, but is countered by the drunk when he suffocates him and makes him look like he hung himself. The scarecrow comes in when the boy's soul is pushed into it. He goes out for revenge.—Huggi Bear

In Emerald Grove, the outcast Lester Dwervick is bullied and mistreated by his high-school mates, by his teacher and by his boss. He lives in a trailer with his mother Rhonda, who is an alcoholic promiscuous woman. His only mate that shows compassion for him is Judy Patterson, who is the daughter of Sheriff Patterson. When his mother brings her scum boyfriend to have sex with her, they ask Lester to leave the trailer. He seeks out Judy at a party and when he sees her kissing the bully Chad, he runs back home. However, the boyfriend is upset with his interruption and hunts Lester down, strangling him in a cornfield below a scarecrow and simulating a suicide.
