Summaries

In a remote Melanesian village a small clan struggles to save their culture, and preserve island life for their children. Parents, forced to work off island for months at a time to pay boarding school fees, realize their children have not learned clan history and the skills needed to survive on their remote island. Time has run out for the parents. The clans survival depends on them. Willing to suffer sever financial hardship, they quit jobs, and return home to teach the children over a six week school break. Parents and elders learn the children have felt removed from their culture and are surprised when the children's desire to learn is a strong as the parents desire to teach.—Anonymous
