A young woman enrolls at an all-girls college in New England to investigate her sister's suicide and is slowly lured into a witchcraft cult by a quartet of students who want her to become the fifth member of their evil circle.

When Jenny Hammersmith arrives at her sister's house, she is attacked by a weird shadow and stabbed. The police believe she committed suicide since she was alone in the house. and close the case. However, Beth is not convinced and refuses to accept that her sister traveled to commit suicide. She decides to join the Fallbridge College for Women where Jenny, to investigate what happened to her. She uses the alias of Karen Oxford to be not identified as Jenny's sister and is welcomed by Alison Kingsley, Paige and Courtney and has an interview with the Dean. Soon she dreams with strange things in the college and tries to find out who The Five are.
