Kabira, an orphan, is raised in the house of poor Muslim weavers. He's different from the rest of his lot because of his peaceful demeanour, which allows him to question religion and practices.

This film, based on the classic Bhisham Sahni play, does not hesitate to point out many of these ideas of Kabir. Santheyalli Ninta Kabira could have been in trouble if it was not backed by the reality of history. It is a film that was very much needed in these times. Many of the things Kabir said centuries ago resonate with contemporary relevance.
