Amadeo and Felicias relationship fester's with mistrust because Felicia has taken a job at a strip club to pay for a debt that Amadeo owes. He frets about her long absences at night, suspecting infidelities, but she skillfully appeases him with her seductive behavior.
Sasha and Raffi's equally chaotic life is filled with violent confrontations and jealousy. During an uneasy reconciliation, Raffi gives Sasha a mysterious gift to appease her, which seems to initiate the sequence of strange events that follow.
As both couples dream at night, their realities merge, and mysterious objects such as a crystal pyramid, a giant egg and an ominous serpent exit one dimensionality and appear in the other.
Events become increasingly surreal, and each couple engages in a set of parallel erotic rituals during the night that seem to express the source of their underlying tensions. In the morning, things have changed for the worse as Amadeo finds evidence confirming Felicias activity as a prostitute and the couple breaks up. Raffi awakens to find that Sasha, tired of her ongoing abuse, has disappeared and the apartment is empty save for a bizarre object that has spontaneously appeared.
With the boundary between each world now completely dissolved Raffi confronts Amadeo in an alley and murders him. After this death the two dimensions invert once again with Raffi and Amadeo reborn in the role that the other had previously occupied.
