Synopsis
A family now in turmoil when just three months earlier 8 yr. old Rickie was found dead. Ben his older brother holds himself responsible. Consumed with guilt and anger, he's on a path to self-destruction and transforming into a different person. His new friend Dean, a bad soul is more than glad to help with this transformation.Ben questions his right to live and be happy because he wasn't there for Rickie. He distances himself from those who mean the most, his father Jack and his girlfriend Allie. His mother, Marion has been a mental wreck, unable to even look at Ben, since she blames him for the death of her 'little angel.'Following a night of crime, Ben is ordered to clean up the home he vandalized. The owner a mentally challenged man named Harvey. His home's deplorable condition is shocking to Ben as is Harvey himself. Ben deems this a complete waste of his time, and just wants to be done to split town forever. He shows up and works, angry and frustrated. But, Harvey's innocence, vulnerability and compassion are hard to ignore. After Ben learns of Harvey's own hardships, an abusive father and deaths of his brother and mother, some of the old Ben begins to surface. Through their time together a friendship develops.Harvey reveals to Ben that it was Dean that killed Rickie. Dean overhears Harvey telling Ben, and Dean knows he must act to get rid of them both before they turn him in. Dean attempts to push Ben off the seawall, but he instead goes over the edge. Ben thinks Dean is dead. He's not and shows up at Harvey's house to set fire to it and kill Harvey. Dean gets what is coming to him, by trapping himself in the fire. Harvey makes it out alive.With the truth, Ben now realizes Rickie's death was not his fault and can begin to heal and help his family.Ben and Harvey became true friends, giving each other what they needed most.
