Summaries

Fresh cod is a rare thing on your plate when on holidays at the popular Polish holiday destination - the Hel Peninsula. Even though, for centuries, it has been inhabited by skilled fishermen and hardly any other professions. In fact, the sea and the fishery are an embodiment of sociological values and identity of this region that treasures the sea and has respected it for generations. Unfortunately, the very existence of a traditional way of life of this community have been threatened by the increasingly interfering and often mindlessly implemented EU legislation which has even managed to restrict freedom of choice of a way of life there. The idyllic surroundings are home to a lively-narrated tale of an Eden on a verge of extinction.—Viktoria Marinov
