The action takes place today, in an old provincial town called Spassk. Right in the center of the city there is a bakery factory, where since the "shaggy" Soviet years, all kinds of rich consumer goods have been produced, filling the shelves of all regional shops and benches. It is thanks to the plant that the city is thriving: residents always have a job, local authorities have support, schools and churches have a "sponsor"... Like a heart pump, the plant fills the arteries of the city with life, and therefore the owner of the plant, Matvey Pakhomov, has long and firmly occupied the position of the unofficial "owner" of the city.
