Semi-retired Moscow detective, Somov, is hired as a consultant on various LAPD investigations involving the Russian-Los Angeles community.

To be with his American wife Rachael, Major Andrey Somov of the Moscow Police Department moves from Russia to Los Angeles, California, USA. After failing to find work with the Los Angeles Police Department, he is forced to work at a series of menial jobs: first walking dogs, then as a taxi driver, and finally as a waiter at the restaurant "Russian Roulette." But, in his heart he is still a cop, and yearns for a chance to work in law enforcement. After befriending LAPD Detective Sommers, he begins to provide assistance to his American colleagues in solving crimes in the Russian-Los Angeles community. Soon, he is hired as a full-time consultant and given the title "Adviser on Russian Affairs" for the Los Angeles Police Department.—Anonymous
