Ritu has always been compared to her mother, which has done nothing but increase her insecurities. Consequently, Ritu doesn't trust her mother and always suspects her, which gets further amplified when she falls in love with Sunny in college and her mother tries to find out about him.This doesn't go well with Ritu, who resents her mother's interference and misunderstands her intentions.
