Summaries

Ritals is based on the vicissitudes of Maria and Vincent, filming their emigration from the deep South of Italy to the suburbs of Paris. The film aims at narrating their own personal story and at the same time using it emblematically to interpret other similar stories of migration. The narration is punctuated by the repetition of the journey Maria and Vincent made from Paris to Salento and back in the 25 of their emigration. Their life-story is told by their voices combined with voices of other people connected to them. At the end of the 80's Vincent and Maria came back to their village, determined not to pack again. Their coming back meant a renovated experience of 'displacement', a condition of leaving between two cultures.—Anonymous
