Dying professor begrudgingly attends dysfunctional family reunion where she must confront catastrophic childhood issues to reconcile with her estranged younger sister.

Dominique, a cold-hearted professor suffering from kidney failure, attends the Smith and Wesson family reunion to approach estranged sister, CeCe, for a transplant. However, deep seeded wounds from catastrophic childhood events remain unresolved between the two sisters. At great emotional expense, CeCe confronts past demons to find forgiveness and healing. Struggling with vulnerability, Dominique must do some soul searching to address personal shortcomings in order to save her own life. The story also involves Dominique's brother, Richard, and his daughters, Kayla and Elsa. Richard abandoned Kayla when she was an infant and she regards Elsa as a scapegoat for her resentment. Kayla's unbridled aggressions explode at the family picnic before she learns that her mom, Richard's vindictive ex-wife, had lied about him. Colorful relatives attending the reunion in Hot Springs, Arkansas add color and controversy to the affair. As family members uncover buried truths and love, family politics nevertheless persist with the Smiths vying to maintain dominance and shut out the Wesson faction. Mounting tensions erupt when Aunt Clara, family matriarch, reveals a shocking secret at the main dinner event, shaking the family tree to its roots.—Anonymous
