The first of two commercially successful collaborations between Rafferty and Robinson is an Australian western in which Rafferty plays a legendary bushman known as the Sundowner who, with his Aboriginal offsider, tracks down a gang of cattle rustlers.—Anonymous

The Sundowner (Chips Rafferty), a legendary character whose bravery and good deeds have made him respected by the white settlers and the aborigine tribes, is invited by Kim Mardsen (Victoria Shaw...as Jeanette Eiphick)to visit her homestead. She believes her father has been murdered, and not killed by an accidental fall from his horse. The Sundowner, under the name of Simpson, is hired as a stockman and soon finds evidence the Mr. Mardsen had been killed by design. He faces opposition in running down the killer from Stapleton (Guy Doleman), the owner of an adjoining property, and by a group of cattle duffers led by Jack Roxy (Bob Darken)and The Moth (Joe Scully), operating a lucrative business by raiding the great herds of the Alice Springs area of northern Australia.—Les Adams <[email protected]>
