A scientist tries to unlock a specific gene in his human test subjects, but his experiment goes extremely wrong...or does it?

Neurologist Ivan Sokolov specializes in the apparent prospective of sleep, potentially REM sleep, and the disorders that go along with it. After being humiliated at a board meeting, and told that his program is a waste of time and money, he begins to use his patients as test subjects to validate his cause. He hopes to unlock a specific gene he has titled the "Soko Gene" which he understands as a dormant alteration of human anatomy. Obsessed with the ability to play GOD, and corrupted by his own internal struggles, he goes against all reason and continues with unethical means of treatment and torture. After an experiment goes wrong, his now, possibly enhance individuals break free and escape back into the world to do what they want with their new found gifts.
