Reading Again Graúna delves deep into the cartoon character Graúna, one of the most popular in Brazil during the 70's. The documentary traces back the history of the iconic character and its creation, exploring why Henfil, the cartoonist who envisioned it, made it a poor little black female bird, questioning social injustice and the censorship decreed by the Brazilian dictatorship at the time. With testimonies from his inner circle, cartoonists and experts, the documentary also looks into the inspiration and representations of Zeferino and Bode Orelana, who along with Graúna formed the "Turma da Catinga"; and It analyzes the cinematic style, humor, main themes and activism of Henfil, whose own words come alive through archival footage to reveal unknown aspects of this characters.
